Our organization operates as a nonprofit, and all contributions are used only for legal expenses and efforts related to our cause.
Fabens Take Charge Group is a grassroots community group dedicated to protecting our small town of Fabens, Texas, from the harmful impacts of a proposed wastewater treatment plant, not the project itself, but its location.
We are raising funds to cover attorney fees, as our community is low-income and economically disadvantaged. Twenty-five percent (25%) of our Fabens community lives below the Texas poverty line and is considered an economically disadvantaged community, according to the Texas Water Development Board. What is Fabens, TX? An unincorporated town approximately 30 miles outside El Paso, Texas, with a humbled but motivated populace. Fabens is a vibrant agricultural town where local pecan orchards, cotton fields, and farmlands surround our homes and support our way of life. Our town boasts a unique distinction: the gift of cleaner air without pollution. Fabens is also known for its innovative small businesses that reflect the heart and character of our community.
This video shares why Fabens matters, its people, culture, and environment, and why the Mesa del Norte Wastewater treatment plant's location will jeopardize the health, safety, and overall quality of life of the residents of Fabens. We invite everyone to stand with us to preserve our community's health, safety, and future. We want a viable solution that puts people first, people second, and people last.
