Hi. My name is Michaela and I am helping my sister-in-law Kelsi raise money for medical expenses for her mother Mary Conrad. Mary is a mom of 5 kids. Her youngest is only 14.
Mary was admitted to the hospital on 01/26/2022. She required 2 units of blood and was not in good condition. It was discovered that she had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma). Mary lives in Utah. Kelsi lives here in Oregon where she is going to school to become therapist. This emergency has meant travel for Kelsi back and forth from Oregon and Utah, which has become quite expensive.
Kelsi is heartbroken over the diagnosis and wants to do everything she can to help her mom get stable and pursue treatment for this shocking diagnosis. Her mom's diagnosis is grim and there are not many options at this time. Her and her mother would like to try revolutionary treatment options available at the Oasis of Hope Clinic in Mexico. The program costs between $18-28,000. This may be Kelsi's last chance to have more time with her mom.
Metastatic breast cancer is a horrible disease. One of my best friends struggled with it for 5 years before passing away. She went through chemo so many times. The chemo kept her alive until it started killing her. Her quality of life deteriorated so much that she was unable to eat, she didn't want to be around other people, and she began wasting away. She got the opportunity to go to the Oasis of Hope Clinic and tried several alternative treatments. She started gaining weight, feeling better, and was able to have a year of quality life that would not have been possible without this program.
I am hopeful that Kelsi can give this gift of quality life and time to her mom. This type of breast cancer is a cruel diagnosis. But when it is your mom, it is even more cruel. I would do anything for my mom, and I know Kelsi feels the same about her own mom. Please find it in your heart to help them raise the money they need to travel and give her mom the chance to fight.
