On January 30th, 2018 Sue's worldly dreams were put on hold. She received a phone call that would forever change her life and her perspective. Stage four cancer. Her response to her doctor: "I am a follower of Jesus, this is just another crazy ride I am on, and my Dad (Jesus) will be with me."
This isn't a story asking for pity, this is a story asking for support of all kinds, encouragement, wisdom and faith. This ride doesn't have time to slow down, and it is fueled by the love and support that is being received non-stop from friends and family alike in all walks of life.
In the beginning, she opted not to pursue the treatment. The financial, physical and mental burdens that come with missing work and poisoning her body did not sound like the right way to finish life. What changed? Her heart, her motivation, her inspiration. On top of her many friends that are like family to her, and the rest of her biological family, her son and her husband are her two biggest reasons to fight. Sue recently sat on her couch and made a promise to her son that she would fight, and fight she has.
Six rounds of treatment down, and a few months later, Sue is doing great, in spite of things. There are many things here that we have no control over, therefore we leave that to faith. One thing that we all agreed we could have some control over are the financial aspects of this.
From rescuing animals in shelters, to volunteering her time to her community through feeding the homeless, to working with Interfaith ministries, Sue has always been putting others before herself. This is why it is no surprise that several of us came up with the idea of a fundraiser for her, in hopes of lightening the financial load off of her and her husband's backs. Missing work for both of them to attend these treatments has put a strain on their household finances. Not to mention they still have treatment deductibles coming their way.
Sue is physically unable to work at the moment, and she needs her husband by her side through many of these challenging days. More than anything, she asks for prayers and positive energy, and as far as money, anything helps.
A big thanks to everyone who has called, sent cards and food, and for the endless prayers. Please continue to pray and share Sue's story on facebook in order to help her and her husband meet their financial needs during these trying times. God bless!
