Steinway Grand Piano

Donation protected
I recently suffered a tragedy regarding my Yamaha baby grand, which was dropped off the back of a moving truck by professional piano movers due to a slick ramp. It was a fluke accident, but my piano was declared irreparable. In recompense I was given a Kawai baby grand that is of comparable value to my destroyed piano. While it has "done the job" for the last couple of months, it is by no means a reliable instrument to be working on long-term. COVID has hit the arts especially hard, and the few musical opportunities that do arise often involve playing from and/or recording at home. It has become increasingly difficult to prepare pieces entirely on my private instrument.

I am looking at replacing this piano with a Steinway & Sons Model B (7-foot) grand piano made in 1997. This model is usually found in the homes of professional pianists, as it is slightly smaller than a concert grand but retains many of the qualities of sound and action associated with the Steinway name. The retail price of this particular piano is $75,000-$85,000, which is what one would pay at a Steinway dealer. However, because Steinway keeps 50% in commission and can take a year or more to sell a piano, these particular people are asking $39,500. I have spoken with several experts in the area who have confirmed this is an unusually good deal, not simply for the area but for across the country.

Because of the price and the fact that it is located only 30 minutes away from where I live, I decided I should at least look at the instrument. To my surprise I found it to be in like-new condition, with a beautiful tone and even touch. The owner has kept all the official certifications/documents association with the instrument (they paid $50,000 in 1997).

While this seems to be an incredible opportunity, I obviously do not have this kind of money simply lying around. I have $10,000 that I can personally contribute, and my family is willing to match it with another $10,000. That leaves me about $19,000 short. I know this is not a small amount of money (especially at this point in history), so I want to ask for your help in raising funds. This instrument is going to move fast, so I am trying to raise as much as possible as quickly as possible.

These are a few raw, unedited recordings that can give you some idea of the instruments involved:
