Hello everyone,
(UPDATED)
My name is Ashley and I'm looking to raise some money towards my dad's (Alan Bares) back surgery. He has had back pain for awhile, but only until recently did it get to the point that he could barely walk. He was working through it for the past 9 months, but finally went to the doctor a week ago and found out he needed emergency surgery. He was scheduled to go in on Wednesday, Nov. 18. His doctor told him that the vertebrae in his back are cutting through his spinal cord, and if he does not have it fixed within a couple weeks, he could be permanently paralyzed from the waist down, for life.
He called his work and told him that the doctor said he could not work until Dec. 14th, but they fired him and cancelled his isurance on him because he can't take that much time off-- the insurance that was going to cover this surgery.
His work said he could have his job back after he is better, BUT they still cancelled his insurance, and he just got the papers in the mail with the numbers and for the insurance alone, has to pay over $3,000 out of pocket, not including the co-pays.
My mom was just laid off from her job as well, so they are having a hard time. I am trying to help out as much as possible, but he really needs this surgery ASAP.
We appreciate all the help we have been given up until this point, and we almost have enough to cover the insurance. Anything will help!
I will truly appreciate anything you are able to give. Thank you in advance!
