World Youth Day 2023

Hello,

My name is Lucas and I am a 16 years old currently completing Year 11 through home-schooling. I am a self-motivated young man who wants to make the most of the opportunities presented to me and I hope to experience World Youth

Day this year in July. This will help me grow in faith and my relationship with Jesus so that I can give back to others and do the will of God.

World Youth Day is an event for young people organised by the Catholic Church

approximately every three years. The pilgrimage runs over three weeks when we will be visiting the Vatican and holy sites in Italy including Assisi and Padua. This will be followed by a week in Lisbon with spiritual talks, receiving the sacraments & attending workshops and festivals. The pinnacle of the pilgrimage is World Youth Day itself when 2-3 million Catholics gather with the Holy Father for the pilgrim Mass. The Pope announced that the theme is “Mary arose and went with haste”. Our pilgrimage will end with a quiet reflection in Avila, Spain.

To travel to World Youth Day this July I need to raise $5000. I am working part-time coaching soccer and doing deliveries while I continue to study full-time. I will endeavour to raise some of the funds myself, but I am also relying on generous donations from family and friends and others.
