Please help Roscoe get the surgery he needs.

As many of you know, Roscoe Thompson III has been instrumental in Abaco’s long and on-going recovery since Dorian. Unfortunately, he is now the one in need.

On September 21, 2022, Roscoe fell from one of the trucks at work, landing on his back. At his doctor’s recommendation, he went to Nassau for an MRI on September 28, 2022. After readig the MRI, Dr. Magnus Ekedede recommended surgery for the affected disc(s), but Roscoe opted to try physical therapy first.

When the physical therapy did not yield any results and the pain became more frequent and intense, Roscoe sought approval for the requested surgery through the National Insurance Board, as the injury occurred on the job.

NIB denied his request for surgery, citing a preexisting condition. While he certainly has had back problems before, the MRI and Dr. Magnus Ekedede recognized this as a new injury not related to anything previously injured. Roscoe appealed the decision, only to be denied again. Now, here we are — a year later — with his condition deteriorating. Dr. Ekedede informed Roscoe that he can wait no longer and must have the recommended surgery.

Since Roscoe has no private health insurance, he has to turn to you, our community, in his time of need now. Please help Roscoe get the surgery he needs.
