Paying Tribute to Papa
On September 2, 2021 Heaven received a very "special delivery," my Papa. Everyone loves their grandparents but my Papa was much more than that. He was the man who filled the "Dad" shoes for so many. He stepped up and took the place when other men walked away. He was the man who taught me how a lady should be treated. He was ALWAYS present. He drove me to school everyday from the first day of kindergarten to my last day of high school. He taught me how to fish, how to build things, how to climb a tree, how to change a tire, how to check my oil. He had the BEST sense of humor and could make friends anywhere he would go.
My Papa was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer in 2013, along with this he had been battling heart disease as well. He went through a triple bypass and 14 stints around his heart. Even going through this he fought to live everyday. Unfortunately in 2018 the cancer found away around the treatment. He then began radiation, then a year of chemo, all the while he was still fighting to live his life to the fullest. But in July 2021, my Papa was getting dressed and his right leg snapped in four places. The cancer had finally gotten to his bones and he was presented with a dangerous surgery to try and walk again. He made it through surgery but while in rehab for his leg the doctors found some cancer spots on the left side of his brain. He fought through another round of radiation and finally coming home. 2 weeks after he was home he began to have trouble breathing, he was hospitalized again and a blood clot was found on his lung. He was put on a ventilator, but sadly a few hours later his heart just stopped.
I would greatly appreciate any help for my family at this time. He did not have life insurance or any money aside for expenses. My Grandma, his loving wife of 53 years, could really use any help at this time. Anything would be appreciated to help cover costs. My Papa was truly and angel on this Earth, as he is in Heaven.
