Help Melissa Reclaim Her Independence

Hello, my name is Melissa. For those who know me, it is well known that my life has always been centered around God, family, and community.

The past year has been incredibly challenging following my father's passing, leaving me with a heavy cross to bear. However, with the unwavering support of my wonderful community and family, I am gradually getting back on my feet just in time for my 50th birthday on July 19th.

Living with several disabilities, reaching this milestone is significant for many reasons. Despite the odds, I have surpassed expectations and lived a fulfilling life, thanks to the loving support of my parents, community, and faith in God.

My father always ensured I had a vehicle to maintain my independence. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper paperwork, my older sibling took the vehicle I had been driving for over three years. Last Thanksgiving, I lost not only my father but also my childhood home, my car, and easy access to my mother, who was moved to a nursing home in Columbus, Ohio, nearly three hours away from me.

Part of reclaiming my independence involves acquiring a vehicle that I can call my own, one that cannot be taken away. After discussing with supportive family members and my significant other, I have decided to humbly ask for help. I have created this page as a way to seek a hand-up, not a handout.

Without a vehicle, I have lost a crucial part of my independence. A used vehicle would enable me to go to work, attend church, visit my mother whenever I want, and pursue a new career I am building from home.

I am determined to move forward and get on with the business of living. Any donation, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated and will go towards purchasing a used vehicle. With humility and gratitude, I thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

One day, I promise to pay it forward. One of my goals is to become a community activist, like my parents, and stand up for others. God bless each and every one of you.

Ayude a Melissa a recuperar su independencia

Hola, mi nombre es Melissa. Para quienes me conocen, es bien sabido que mi vida siempre ha estado centrada en Dios, la familia y la comunidad.

El año pasado ha sido increíblemente desafiante después del fallecimiento de mi padre, lo que me dejó con una pesada cruz que cargar. Sin embargo, con el apoyo inquebrantable de mi maravillosa comunidad y mi familia, poco a poco me estoy recuperando justo a tiempo para cumplir 50 años el 19 de julio.

Al vivir con varias discapacidades, alcanzar este hito es importante por muchas razones. A pesar de las probabilidades, superé las expectativas y viví una vida plena, gracias al apoyo amoroso de mis padres, la comunidad y la fe en Dios.

Mi padre siempre se aseguró de que tuviera un vehículo para mantener mi independencia. Desafortunadamente, debido a la falta de documentación adecuada, mi hermana mayor tomó el vehículo que yo conducía desde hacía más de tres años. El pasado Día de Acción de Gracias, perdí no solo a mi padre, sino también la casa de mi infancia, mi automóvil y el fácil acceso a mi madre, quien fue trasladada a un asilo de ancianos en Columbus, Ohio, a casi tres horas de distancia de mí.

Parte de recuperar mi independencia implica adquirir un vehículo que pueda considerar mío y que no me puedan quitar. Después de hablar con familiares que me apoyaron y con mi pareja, decidí pedir ayuda humildemente. He creado esta página de como una forma de buscar una mano, no una limosna.

Sin vehículo, he perdido una parte crucial de mi independencia. Un vehículo usado me permitiría ir a trabajar, asistir a la iglesia, visitar a mi madre cuando quiera y seguir una nueva carrera que estoy construyendo desde casa.

Estoy decidido a seguir adelante y seguir con la vida. Cualquier donación, sin importar el tamaño, será muy apreciada y se destinará a la compra de un vehículo usado. Con humildad y gratitud, les agradezco de antemano cualquier ayuda que puedan brindarme.
