Mikes New Bed To Sleep Better

Donation protected
As a young girl my Uncle Mike taught me to be thankful for the things I have and to love the people around me, even perfect strangers; to be kind to people is as simple as smiling and saying hello.  My Uncle was a chef by trade and did a lot cooking for our family, friends and loved ones.  Anytime we needed anything from my Uncle he is there. He used to do so many things for my Aunt and for his children and still works through it to try to help the best he can.  As I grew older my Uncle began to share more with me about his suffering and that he has disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. That was a big word for me and still is.  If you want to learn more, please visit www.ankylosingspondylitis.org  Mike Lemieux was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (A.S.) and forced to stop working over 12 years ago.  Can you imagine the impact on your family if you suddenly could no longer provide?

My Uncle Mike is one of the coolest people I know and is always helping others and never asking for anything in return. He is an amazing husband to my Aunt Sheila, who in her own way is a blessing and angel to my uncle.  The strength between the two of them is unparalleled.  Despite the difficulties this disease has brought both of them, they continue to stay positive and loving towards everything and everyone.

This opportunity I am presenting to you is not just about financial needs.  It is also to bring awareness to the disease and to the people that are suffering by it as we need to be more responsive to this rare disease. If we all think of someone else even just for a moment or skip that extra coffee; even for just one day we can have an impact that brings everyone around us to better place.  Have you ever felt terrible and had someone reach out and just say, “hey how are you, do you need to talk?"  Those small acts can really make a difference for people.  I hope that you will consider helping my Uncle, who would never ask for help and which is why I am doing it for him.  If I could afford to help him on my own I would, so now I humble myself and ask would you be willing to help?

A.S. is an autoimmune disease. In advanced cases such as his, symptoms of chronic inflammation, pain to the spine, pelvis, neck, collar bone, knees, joints, tendons and muscles never go away.  This condition causes the bones to fuse together forcing my Uncle to need to sleep in a recliner; there is no option for him to rest.  Mike has not been able to sleep in his bed since last December therefor he gets very little sleep. Lack of sleep has only interfered more with his type II diabetes & hypertension, further complicating his A.S. My uncle needs a reclining bed.  Not only will this bed help him rest, but it will bring him and my Aunt back together in the same room at night again.  It breaks my heart to know that my uncle, who is already physically impaired, can’t even sleep with his wife.  He really needs this bed.
