On Friday March 4th, 2016...I was traveling along the interstate and noticed traffic began to slow down. As I get closer, I see there is an accident moved to the center median, with only enough room for one veheicle between the cables, and the left lane. There were no responders yet on the scene, however, other veheicles pulled off to help. As I got closer, I noticed people running around the involved vehicles checking on accident victims. I then briefly glance over to be sure no one steps out onto the interstate while going door to door, and looked back ahead, and the vehicle in front of me was stopped. I barely had time to slam on the brakes, before slamming into the vehicle. Very shaken up, and immediate headache, I pull my disabled vehicle into the median. Got out, and checked on the lady my vehicle struck. Praise be to God her and her young daughter were ok. I apologized, hugged her, and waited to be checked over. Skipping forward a bit, went to the ER that evening to get completely checked out as I thought my head was going to explode. Two days prior to my accident, I experienced some pretty severe sharp pains in my bladder. So, while I was in the ER, I asked if there was anyway they could do a scan to check that out also, as I already had abdominal seatbelt brusing from the accident. I suffered whiplash, strained neck, shoulder, and upper back muscles. Contusions to both knees, and seatbelt bruising. The Dr. then told me the CT scan I had revealed a 3 mm right kidney stone, and a 12 cubic cm right ovarian mass that was pressing down on my bladder. I was taken back a bit, when he said he was unsure as to what it was exactly, but I needed to follow up with an Ob asap. After seeing my family physician the following Tuesday, and going through the ringer and back, trying to get a referral, I was finally able to after 2 weeks, get in with an Ob. At that visit, I had the CT scan report findings, and disc. The Ob did a CA 125 blood test, and an internal ultrasound. The mass had already moved up midline, and was 14 cm vertically, 10 horizontally and was diagnosed as a pelvic mass, and no right ovary was visible. Four days later I went back for the CA 125 results, which were 88, and I was then referred to an Oncologist with SCOA. Not only for the lab result, but for the fact it was so large and he was unsure as to what he was dealing with. The visit with the Oncologist made me feel pretty confident that it wasn't cancer based on the lab result. Many disorders can cause the CA 125 to elevate. And that he had hi hopes it was benign. I was then sent for an MRI, so he would know the best method/technique for removal. Five days later went back for MRI results, and the visit wasn't as hopeful. My mass was now 16 cm and causing a great deal of pain, and worry. It was also a mix of solids and fluid, there was also noted a prominent lymph node, as well as fluid in my abdomen. It would be a serious surgery, 2-3 hours, 3-5 day stay, and I would have a vertical incision, navel to hairline. And it would have to be removed in one piece. Depending on what he saw while in there, I might possibly have to have a full hysterectomyand lymph node removal. Possible blood transfusion and possible abdominal portput in my abdomen in case I would need Chemo. He asked me if I had any questions, and I asked when is the soonest you can get it out of me. And he set my surgery date then and there. He asked if I had any other questions, and I half smiled and said, no, I don't think I do. When he left the room, emotions of fear came over me, and I sobbed. Meanwhile, my blazer was totaled, and I was working very little bit enough that I was able to pay my booth rent for the week, as I am also a self employed Cosmetologist in Chapin.
I underwent surgery on April 11th at 3 in the afternoon. Come to find out the mass was actually my ovary! He did a freeze test, and it does have cancer cells present. My surgery took 3 hrs, because he saw something suspicious on my small intestine. He removed a 2 inch section of it, and stitched it back together. I lost a good bit of blood, but did not need a transfusion. The lymph node appeared to be normal, but he biopsied it also, and drew some of the fluid to have biopsied as well. My other ovary, cervix and uterus appeared to be normal. And no abdominal port. I was discharged Friday April 15th, and I'm awaiting pathology reports. The Love, Prayers, support and care from family, friends and clients are overflowing!!! I am in good spirts, and have complete trust amd Faith in God, and the Dr. with whatever my journey is from the results. I am divorced, I have a great friendship with my Ex husband. I live alone, and am a Self employed Cosmetologist, and still have to pay booth rent weekly, even though I am not working. My veheicle was totaled, and I did receive a settlement check for it. Thank the Lord! So that is holding me over. My Dad was gracious enough to lend me one of his veheicles til I can get my own. 20 years driving, and I have never hit another vehicle. All I can say is God works in mysterious, miraculous ways...as my accident brought this mass to light. I debated as to whether or not I should do this. I don't like to ask for anything. I am a giver, I haven't gone up on hair services in probably 6 years...and I give discounts to those in need. But any contribution you can make will be more than graciously appreciated. For those who would just like to send a message, or a prayer, that will be gracious enough!!!
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart...I love you all! God bless...
