Hi, my name is Helena, and I’m not usually someone who does anything like this or asks for help in general, but I’m reaching out for desperate help for my sweet baby Lucky

All of a sudden on Sunday, Lucky became extremely unwell. She was struggling to breathe, very lethargic, and unable to stand properly. We rushed her to the emergency vets that night, where she was given pain relief and had blood tests done. Nothing alarming showed up, so we took her home hoping she might improve—but she didn’t. Her breathing stayed rapid, her heart rate was high, and she still had a fever of 40.5.

Today, I took Lucky to her regular vets and things became even more worrying. They noticed her gums weren’t changing back to their normal colour quickly, suggesting she may be going into shock. Her breathing, heart rate, and fever were still extremely high. She spent the entire day at the vets having more tests, receiving fluids, and being given antibiotics through a drip. They believe she does have an infection, but they haven’t yet located where it’s coming from — and until they do, they can’t target her treatment properly. They need more specialist tests and imaging to zone in on what’s wrong.

This evening, Lucky had to be admitted into the emergency vets critical care unit to stay overnight for close monitoring, further tests and liquids etc. The estimate I’ve been given is around £7,000, which includes the imaging she urgently needs. I simply cannot afford this on my own, no matter how desperately I want to give her everything she needs to get better.

For anyone who knows me, you know my dogs are my life. They are the reason I get up in the morning. If it wasn’t for Lucky, I honestly don’t know where I’d be. She has helped me through some of the hardest moments of my life, without even knowing she was doing it. I can’t imagine not having her in my life, and I can’t imagine not trying everything possible to help her now.

Lucky isn’t just a dog she is the most pure, kind, beautiful, warm soul you could ever meet. She is my best friend, and I really, truly need her.

I know this is the worst time of year to ask for help, especially with the way the world is right now, but I wouldn’t be asking if I wasn’t absolutely desperate. If you can donate, even a little, it would mean the world. If you can’t, sharing this would help more than you know.
