Getting back home!

Donation protected
I have been teaching Kindergarten and Grade 1 in Cambodia since 2017, at an orphanage for children with HIV. I live at the school with my two cats, the children and other teachers, and have settled there as my home.

The orphanage is called New Hope For Cambodian Children and more info can be found here
https://newhopeforcambodianchildren.org/our-story/

When Coronavirus his at the start of the year, I made the decision to come back to the UK temporarily to be with my family, I was concerned about elderly family members and the idea of the boarders closing and not being able to be there should the worst happen was very frightening. I walked through the front doo just as the announcement for lockdown was made.

I naively hoped it would just be for a few weeks, but obviously that wasn't the case. I have been shielding family members so have been unable to go out for work.

To protect their citizens from COVID-19, the Cambodian government have now implemented so strict measures for people returning ti the country. When arriving, travellers now need a $2000 cash deposit at the airport. From this, they take the cost of a covid test and a couple of days in quarantine, should everyone on your flight test negative, the remainder of the deposit is returned to you and you are free to go. Should anyone on your flight test positive, everyone will be held in quarantine for two weeks, the cost of this will be the remainder of the $2000 deposit. Travellers are also required to have high costing health insurance.

Though these rules are great to protect the Cambodian people, it makes it very difficult for someone like myself who has worked for charity for 3 years to afford to get back home, and as I need to return before October 23rd in time for school to start again and I am unable to go out and work due to shielding my sick family members, it is proving very difficult to raise the funding.

Should all go well and the remainder of the deposit be returned to me, I plan on donating the rest to the school unless donors would like it returned to them as almost a loan, I am hopeful that this will be the case and my flight will all test negative.

Please help me get home!
