ALOHA FOR ANUHEA AONA!! Aloha mai kākou ʻohana, hoaloha/friends, and beautiful humans, My name is Tai, and I’m the younger brother of Erin Anuhea Aona. With humility and aloha, I’d like to share Anu’s inspirational story of strength and resilience.
At the young age of two years old, Anu suffered an infection. This led to the diagnosis of glomerulonephritis, a disease which attacks and injures the part of the kidney that filters blood. Since then, she has survived kidney failures, a bout with cancer, and two kidney transplants, the first of which was donated by our brother Todd when Anu was just 12 years old. Now 46 years old, this amazing Mana wahine has continued to battle through two decades of dialysis.
Despite the odds stacked against her, Anu continues to push forward - testing the limits of what any human being can and should have to endure. Even now, as she must bravely defeat the pain and suffering of cancer for the second time, I believe that LOVE will ALWAYS PREVAIL.
This is where you come into play. With your donations, you will support Anu in this fight, making the rest of her journey as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Funds raised will help buy her a new sofa and recliner where she does her home dialysis for 8 hours daily, a used car that will make doctor appointments easier and allow her to work a couple days during the week, rather than having to work two jobs just to support herself. It may also give her a chance to travel; even to another island, as her medical conditions limit such luxuries.
I’ve had a front row seat witnessing the strongest, bravest, and most courageous person I will ever have the chance to meet undergo over a hundred medical procedures. The doctors gave her little chance to live this long but she continues to endure. I love my sister,
Anu, and I hope that these simple words will inspire you to give as much or as little as you can. No donation is too small to help. Please share the link and her story. With love and aloha, we thank you for taking a moment to read Anu’s story.
