Help Support Brandon's Road to Recovery

Hello family and friends!
My name is Mona Dodd, and I am helping raise funds for my grandkids’ “dada”, Brandon Gibson.
Brandon had a horrific car accident while he was on the way to work on, Wed, May 30, 2024. He had a “guardian angel” stop to help him and found him unconscious. She finally got him to respond to her. She got his name from him and she said he ask for Megan. She was able to keep him alive and awake until the paramedics arrived.
Brandon was trapped in his vehicle and had to be cut out. Cutting him out of the vehicle took over a hour. During this time his legs were trapped and crushed, from hitting the tree head on and from the impact. It was a work box truck he was driving. If you know what that is, then you know the windshield is straight up and your face and body are pretty much sitting on the hood of the truck. He had lost a lot of blood from the accident alone, but even more due to the length of time it took to remove him from the truck. He was then air lifted to UT and placed in the Trauma Unit. On arrival his blood pressure was extremely low due to blood loss and he was very lucky to arrive when he did. He then underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. The doctors were unable to save his left leg and it had to be amputated. The right leg was broken in 3 places and had to have rods and screws put in place. He’s now had 2 surgeries on his left leg and 3 on his right. His right hand was broken as well and also had surgery on his hand. His nose was broken as well, which required surgery and lots of stitches all over his face. As you can imagine, Brandon was in shock and utter disbelief that he had now lost his leg and was facing an extremely long road ahead.
Brandon has two precious children, Laylah and Laedyn, my beautiful grandkids. His kids are his whole world and he is their’s. The kids are extremely worried and concerned about him.
He is an extremely hard worker. He is a very talented painter, who can do just about anything from painting, flooring and remodeling homes. He will not be able to work for a while (could be a year) and the medical bills, along with daily bills will be overwhelming.
He is due to be fitted for a prosthetic leg in about two months. The cost for it alone, for those without health insurance, for a basic prosthetic leg can be as much as $10,000, while a more advanced, computerized prosthetic leg controlled by muscle movements can cost up to $70,000 or more. Various non-profits provide financial aid or free prosthetic limbs for patients in need.
When the accident happened, he didn’t have any insurance. The hospital told Megan about an insurance that she could apply for and get him covered. I think, but I’m not completely sure, that it’s some type of grant. Brandon nor the hospital are sure what all it will cover.
He’s been in the hospital two weeks today, but by the grace of God, he was discharged earlier today. As you can imagine, the Life Flight and hospital bill will be outrageous. Plus, he still has his daily bills to pay.
Anyone who knows Brandon, likes him. He is very respectful to everyone and has a kind heart. If I had to think of one word to describe him, it would absolutely be "kind." He is the true definition of a good person and values his relationships with his family and friends above all else.
Please consider helping Brandon, Laylah and Laedyn. The doctors say that he has at least a year of recovery and rehab ahead of him. Why this happened to someone that is as kind as Brandon, is beyond my comprehension. Any support is greatly appreciated, even if it’s just $5.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Please continue to pray for Brandon through his journey ahead.
Please feel free to share this. Ty!
