Matthew's National Karate Team Trip
Donation protected
Matt has made the US Junior National Karate Team and we couldn't be more proud! He has overcome some incredible obstacles to get here.
At about 8 years old Matthew was diagnosed with a condition called Calve-Legg-Perthes disease which resulted in 5 surgeries, one extremely painful 7 week lower body cast and (two surgeries later) a half-body cast for another 9 weeks.
The result was a slight limp and a labored gait. To get betterand try and strengthen the leg, Matthew decided he wanted to try karate.
He ended up thriving in karate and found a passion for the sport that most of us only dream about. Years later, what started out as slight disability, has been turned into a chance to represent the United States in the Junior PanAms in Santa Cruz, Bolivia as a member of the US Junior National Karate Team. He has proven that determination, perseverance and belief can get one a very long way in life!
He leaves for Santa Cruz, Bolivia on August 22 and will compete later in the week of August 24.
With your help he can realize his goal of competing for the US Karate Team on the world stage. Please consider a small donation towards his travel expenses.
