Support Robert's Journey to a New Home

Hello everyone, my name is Robert Winter and I’ve been a contract FEMA INSPECTOR for 35 years. I have helped thousands of disaster survivors recover from hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, flooding, and fires and now unfortunately I have suffered a fire disaster that has changed my life

I got off work at 4 o’clock on June 7th 2024 went to cash my check grab a pizza and headed home. A couple blocks from my house I saw black smoke and thought to myself, "Gee, I hope that isn’t my house burning". As I pulled up from the cross street, I could see my neighbors shed on fire. I pulled up immediately and saw that it was starting to catch my shed on fire . It all happened so fast. The fire department got there within 15 minutes, but it was too late. My house and a lifetime of memories and items I've collected over the years all gone. Destroyed.

I’ve been dealing with my insurance company for the last three weeks and we’re finally working out the amount of loss. It looks like I’m going to be $50,000 short to rebuild and that’s mostly because of inflation over the last couple years and upgrading to new building codes.

Every morning I wake up and hope this has all been just a bad dream. Then reality sets in with that first cup of coffee. A lifetime of memories up in smoke. Bits and pieces of my life forever gone. I never thought I could experience such heartache.

So now I’am humbly asking for your help so I can rebuild my home. Every little bit helps
