This campaign is in financial support of Pastor Mike and Sue Deblois. Pastor Mike and Sue are part of the New Era bible family and we couldn't be more proud that they choose New Era to be home. The Dublois family lives their lives everyday as servants to others and truly walk as Christ would walk. The reason we would like to support them financially is due to some medical setbacks they have sustained during a time in their lives they really could use the support (one daughter in a Wedding and another is starting as a freshman in college). The Medical setback is described as follows:
In February Sue began to experience numbness and tingling in her hands and feet, arms and legs. This progressed to the loss of strength and use of her right bicep muscle. After numerous attempts to get help from a chiropractor, her GP referred her to a neurologist in the Grand Rapids area, who scheduled a series of MRI’s. Only days after the results came back, Sue received a call from the neurologist wanting to see her immediately. A phone call led to the referral to Dr. Jorgen Luders, neurosurgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Sue’s case was so serious he squeezed a consult with us in between surgeries. We learned that Sue had a very serious case of spinal stenosis in the cervical spine areas of C4-6, where three vertebrae were pinching into the spinal cord at a dangerous level. Without surgery immediately, even a simple fall or even a “fender bender” could leave her paralyzed she was told. Surgery was scheduled a mere week after the consult. The surgery was to remove the three invasive vertebrae as well as surrounding damaged discs. After surgery began, the surgeon was able to “clean up” two of the vertebrae, only removing C4 which was the worst of the three. He inserted a “spacer” and fused the remaining cervical vertebrae from C3-6.The past four weeks Sue has been in a hard collar, with a regimen of pain meds and muscle relaxers. Then two weeks with a soft collar and physical therapy to follow.
