Max is our sweet 2-year-old golden retriever who recently went through a heartbreaking and rare medical emergency.

Two weeks after being neutered, Max developed an extremely swollen scrotum—about the size of a baseball. This rare post-surgical complication quickly turned serious. We rushed him to the emergency vet and after 11 long hours, we were faced with an impossible decision: pay over $9,000 for surgery or put him down.

We brought Max home, devastated but determined to find another way. The next morning, we contacted the original surgeon. As fate would have it, Max’s abscess ruptured right there in the office—he was immediately taken in for emergency surgery.
