As many already know, Julie had a seizure on June 26th which led to the discovery of a brain tumor. Since that day, she has undergone many tests and scans to figure out what’s going on. The preliminary pathology reports came back as a totally different tumor than what she has. Since then, she has been diagnosed with a very rare type of brain cancer. She is still waiting on more pathology to come back and will update everyone once that comes in via the CaringBridge website. Julie has chosen Mayo Clinic to take care of her cancer treatment moving forward.
In true Julie fashion she continues to show strength, calmness, and she is celebrating the victories along the way. She is leaning on her faith, family, and friends during this difficult time. If you know Julie, you know she is not a complainer, she doesn’t often ask for help, but we know she is going to need it.
Julie has had numerous appointments, scans, bloodwork, etc. the last 6 weeks and will continue to have many specialist appointments for the months and years (!!) to come. She has ongoing meetings with specialists at Mayo Clinic. She sees neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists and radiation-oncologists, neurologists, nutritionists, etc. while doing everything she can to fight for as much time as possible. She will begin radiation and chemotherapy on August 12th.
She is unable to work for the foreseeable future, and the time and expense of her care is only going to increase. Though she has not asked, we are starting a go-fund me on her behalf to help alleviate some of the expenses the family will be enduring. This will also help with future expenses the family will need like kids daycare, sports, college, etc.
The Brants are never ones to ask for help, but this is a time we know they will need it. Please consider donating to this amazing family and/or signup to help provide a meal during this tough time in their near future. The link for the meal train is below.
Well-wishes, prayers, and positivity are always welcome but please check the caring bridge site about how Julie is doing and her treatment plan/progress. It’s important we allow her to live and not constantly be reminded of her illness and what her and the family is going through.
