Support for our Ukrainian family

As you know, Paul and I are welcoming Elena, Igor (14) and Kostia (12) from Mariupol to live with us for up to a year.

They have managed to escape from Mariupol, where Elena worked as an Electrical Engineer in the Steel industry, to Poland, and they will travel from there to our house on 14 May. They are travelling with a small suitcase each and have left behind their home, car, possessions, friends and school. If you have been following the news, you will have seen that 80% of Mariupol has been destroyed so there is vanishingly little for them to go back to.

If we can raise enough, as well as personal items we will also pay for a car to enable Elena to find work as her English improves and to enable the family’s integration into British society as well as maintain connections with the growing Ukrainian community in the UK.

We are grateful to those of you that have already committed vouchers, time, offers of clubs for the kids, nearly-new clothes etc. Every donation will help. Thank you everyone!
