Mark’s Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Hello all! Many of you know the situation revolving my Dad, Mark, but for those who don’t, here’s a little back story…

On the morning of September 1st, 2021, I (Vincent, Mark’s son) came home and found my father on the ground, shaking, and very unresponsive. I immediately dialed 911, the ambulance showed up, and off he went to the ER. My dad was positive with COVID-19, that developed into pneumonia. Two days later while in the hospital, Mark went into cardiac arrest, the doctors quickly revived him, but my dad had to be intubated and put on a ventilator…

He was moved to a COVID ICU floor, where it was very restricted, and I couldn’t see my dad unless it was through a window for about 15 minutes. For about two weeks, my dad was in a coma, not waking up or giving any sort of responsiveness to the doctors. A lot of the doctors had no hope for my father, and they wanted me to take him off of the ventilator. That was something I obviously wasn’t going to do, so he was moved to another hospital that was considered a “covid recovery” facility. This is where my dad finally started to turn around…

When he was at that facility, he finally woke up. As the weeks went on, he gradually got better, his responsiveness came back, he was coming off the vent more and more, so they decided he qualified to go to a rehabilitation center, where he is currently at now.

After months of worrying, lots of ups and downs, and some minor set backs, my dad is finally getting much better. He’s much more responsive now, he’s got his sense of humor, he’s all there mentally, he’s just gotta get the strength back physically. He’s still on the ventilator, but his lungs are getting better each day.

So that’s what brings me to here, and to this point. My dad’s insurance isn’t the best, and there’s a portion that I have been covering myself, as well as other bills of his that will have to get paid. The bills are starting to pile up now, and I unfortunately can’t handle it all on my income.

I never thought I would have to make one of these GoFundMe, but I am in a desperate time. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated. If you can’t contribute, I still appreciate you taking time to read my dads story. Please help in getting my dad back to full health, he’s got so many more motorcycle rides to go on. He’s a man who loves life, his kids, and his grand kids. Thank you all so so much.

(If anyone is close to my dad and has any good stories, feel free to share them on here!)
