Cancer SUCKS

Donation protected
Earlier this year, Oderra had knee surgery and was recovering just fine. A few months later she experienced excruciating pains in her hip to the point she had to beg her Mom to take her to the E.R. because the pain was far too much to bear. While at the ER the doctors did X-rays which showed that she had a break in her hip bone which was unexplainable because Oderra had not had any trauma to the hip areas whatsoever. She was sent for a CT scan and MRI, and the results from both showed tumors in the broken hip; tumors large enough to have actually caused the break of the hip. She returned to the hospital in the days soon following for a biopsy, hoping and praying what the doctors assumed was not the case. The biopsy came back unfavorable and Oderra has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of Bone Cancer. She has already undergone one surgery to remove the tumor but she has a LONG road ahead. On 11/14, she will start the first dose of a 10 week round of chemotherapy. Once that round has been completed, she will undergo a hip replacement and then another 8-10 week round of chemo. Oderra is 20 years old and was an excellent above class student at the University of South Carolina (GO Gamecocks!) and was supposed to graduate next May. She has had to drop out of college and has lost her medical insurance because of it. She currently lives with her mom, Filiz, in Columbia and her Oncologist is in Charleston, SC. Oderra is her mom's pride and joy and I just cannot imagine, as a mother myself to have to go thru something like this, seeing your child in pain like this.  I just want to help this sweet family out with transportation back and forth to the hospitals and whatever medical expenses we can help with seeing as they have no insurance at this point. Anything you can donate, even if it's your prayers at this time, is greatly appreciated.

*I will point out also, that the Oncologist said they will be doing testing of the lung tissue also as this type of Bone Cancer is known to rapidly spread to the lungs causing further trauma to the body.*
