A Fund Raising Campaign for:
Medical Expenses for Richard Leonard Senate after his life saving operation at UCLA Medical Center which occurred in March 2016
Richard and his beautiful grandchild.
Richard and Debbie Senate.
First, the Senate family extends their profound and loving thanks to you all who have helped Richard in this difficult period of his life. I would say that because of you, this definitely helped Richard get this far in dealing with his heart issues. I have been with Richard at the beginning of this life trial, and no one has come closer to death in my opinion than he has. There were times when I thought that my visit with him would be my last visit with him. He was on death's doorstep.
So much so, that the first campaign was posted to raise
enough money for a burial plot and other post mortem funds. We did that thanks to you, $4000. At that time, Richard was told basically to get his affairs in order and use the remainder of his time left as he could and be with family and friends. His fate really seemed set in stone. Death was to occur soon from a severely damaged and rapidly failing heart.
After seeking alternative ways to extend life, Richard finally did get a life-saving operation at UCLA Medical Center on March 4, 2016 after much effort. No one in this area could perform such an operation. And yes, there was considerable risk, but really nothing to lose.
According the the specialists there, Richard would have not lasted more than a month with such a severely damaged heart. On March 4, the seven-hour operation was performed where two heart valves were replaced along with triple by-pass surgery. A lot to do, and even then there was doubt by his surgeons that he would survive surgery. He did survive surgery, and the doctors were amazed. One strong-willed man with a resolve to live, yet with no fear of death that I could see.
Now, comes the problem of paying for this very expensive operation. We are not sure what the cost will be or how much is covered by other sources. Whatever it is, it all will be very expensive for him and the family even if most the cost is covered.
I was asked once more by Richard and Debbie Senate to set up a fund-raiser to help offset the medical bills, so here it is. The cost will be more, I am sure, but this is a start and will ease the family's concern about paying for the operation. Again, we do not know the total, nor how much will be paid by other sources.
So, we had to come up with a number, and a goal, which is $10,000. ($4000 was raised for a burial plot and arrangements in the previous funding campaign.) Again, we are sure it will be much more, but this is a start. Let us all keep Richard in our prayers. He is not totally out of the woods yet, and will need post operative physical therapy also. And yes, he could pass away after this operation, but we are thinking positive. Everything through your prayers and healing energy and thoughts has worked so far.
Thank you, most sincerely,
John Anthony Miller
