Brooklyn’s fight
Donation protected
Hi there, most of you already know Brooklyn’s story, but I’m going to give you an update and explain why we are reaching out to you once again for support.
Two years ago, when Brooklyn was 9 years old, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma (alveolar), an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer. Since then, Brooklyn has undergone multiple surgeries (one being 16 hours long), she has received roughly 60 chemotherapy treatments (multiple types of chemo), as well as 28 rounds of radiation.
This past spring, Brooklyn’s cancer metastasized to her lungs and brain and on May 1st she underwent another surgery to remove the brain tumour. Since this time, we noticed that her incision wasn’t healing properly and she was starting to appear jaundice. After being seen in London emergency room, Brooklyn was once again admitted to London Hospital. After a series of tests (which included a chest x-ray, a CT scan and an MRI), Brooklyn and her family received even more devastating news. Her brain tumour that was removed only 6 weeks ago has grown back to the same size as it was pre-surgery, and additionally, she now has a mass on her pancreas. We are still awaiting the results of the x-ray of her lungs. This cancer is extremely aggressive and nothing they have done so far has been able to stop it.
As of now, we’re not sure what the future holds for Brooklyn but we are certain that Brooklyn’s parents would like to be by her side as much as possible. Brooklyn’s dad was laid off over the winter and has only been back to work less than 2 months, which makes him ineligible to claim unemployment and has no other source of income. Brooklyn’s mom has only been able to work off and on over the past 2 years, as her primary focus has been caring for Brooklyn. Brooklyn also has a younger brother and sister, ages 4 and 8.
No parent or child should ever have to face what Brooklyn is facing. She has been an inspiration to so many people, she’s strong, determined and so unbelievably brave. If you know Brooklyn and her family, then you know that they are amazing people with huge hearts. I’m asking for help because the very last thing they need to worry about right now is having to pay medical expenses and bills. Their only focus should be spending what may their final days with their daughter.
For your thoughts, prayers, kind words, donations and everything else in between, Brooklyn’s whole family is thanking you for your support❤️
