On July 7th we lost Raphy. At only 26 years old, he had so much life ahead of him. He was smart, kind, thoughtful and one of the most generous people you would meet. Raphy wanted everyone around him to succeed and would do anything to help you get there. Family meant everything to him. He called his mom, dad and brother daily.
Raphy attended Pace on a full baseball scholarship for high school and was later drafted to the Mets in 2014. He used his knowledge, passion and natural skill with baseball to always help his brother, Angelo, succeed. Night or day, Raphy would call his brother to coach him and ensure he had everything he needed, even while Angelo was miles away in Maryland. One of his favorite things was going to Angelo’s baseball games and standing by the dugout, giving helpful tips and motivation during the games. His constant love and support for everyone around him is something we will miss most.
This loss comes as a shock to everyone lucky enough to know him. Raphy lit up any room he walked into with his big personality and infectious laugh. Without looking up, you could feel his presence in any space. Raphy was one of those people that you met once and never forgot. He will be forever missed.
With such a sudden passing, the financial burden is tremendous, and anything you can do to support us during this tragic time would be greatly appreciated.
Raphy financially supported his family, specifically in helping fund his brother's baseball journey and schooling in Maryland. Any additional fundraising efforts after the funeral will be used to help the family get back on their feet financially and fund Angelo as he returns to Maryland to play baseball this Fall.
