Crowd fundraising for Rhoda Quick
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rhoda Quick, and I've spent my whole life giving back to others in need through my volunteerism throughout the city of St. Louis Park. I created this Crowd Fundraising GoFundMe to help me with my unexpected layoff from Seagate. I am looking for support to help me keep up with my rent at Arrive Inglewood Trails and with my most critical bills before my unemployment kicks in and I find a new full-time job opportunity.
I was working a great job last year at Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation when Seagate Technologies contacted me last October. They located my resume on Linked In and started to try and convince me to come and work for them even though I was very happy working at MHIF.
Seagate made me a very lucrative job offer to leave MHIF and come and work for them. I left MHIF in October 2022 and went to join Seagate in Edina on their Legal Team. They paid me a hiring bonus and a generous raise to join their Legal team. I was to be supporting a Vice President in Fremont CA, a Senior Manager, and a Vice President of Corporate Governance all remotely.
Well, fast forward to January 18, 2023, after four months of working on several major projects for this team including a 10,000-item major SimpleLegal audit of all their open cases, the day after I completed that audit, I was laid off with them with their excuse that "I wasn't a good fit for them." I received no notice, no severance and was let go that day.
When I came on board, I was under the impression that I would be at Seagate long- term. I was hired as a full-time employee with benefits. I had to promise to stay there at least one year to keep my hiring bonus of $5,000.
I was in total shock. I had no warnings, no negative things had happened in those four months. I thought the meeting was to discuss my 2023 Goals and Objectives and my 90 Day Review.
But instead, I was packing up my desk and it was the beginning of a stressful couple of weeks of trying to figure out how I would pay my increased rental payment from $1268 a month to $1380 a month, my car payment of $450 and various other medical bills within my budget.
I had no money set aside for a situation like this because I thought I was at a long-term position that had searched me out on LinkedIn and brought me on board a few months prior.
I have reached out to my community resource like St. Louis Park Emergency Program for use of their Food Shelf and get some emergency aide.
But now I am reaching out to my second loving and caring family and friends on Facebook. I am hoping that unemployment will kick in sometime in the next few weeks. But until then the Rent and utilities and other expenses don't go away. I am praying that some of you will help me out in the interim.
I always pay it forward to everyone that asks for my help whether it be my time, my giving of funds or my support of all the important groups out here.
I hope and pray that I can get a little assistance to help me connect the time between now and when I find my next perfect job opportunity.
I am taking suggestions for local job opportunities through messages on Facebook.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you can offer me!
Love Always,
