Hello, my name is Rafael Malave and on may 2023 after a colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with colon rectal cancer due to a big tumor that grew for about 10 years, after this diagnostic I started a plan with my care team that consisted initially of 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy continuing with 8 sessions of IV chemotherapy.

After all these months of treatment, the tumor shrunk where it can hardly been seen on a single MRI or an Colonoscopy. Thanks GOD my entire body and organs whitdstood this treatment withouth considerable sides effects. Now after the treatment my doctors decided to put me through a major surgery named ROBOTIC LOW ANTERIOR RESECTION WITH DIVERTING LOOP ILEOSTOMY, where they will remove part of my colon and some lymph nodes that could be harmful in the future. Time of recovery of this surgery is about 2 months, where I will have an ostomy stoma during the process of healing followed by a second surgery to remove the stoma where I will finally be back to normal. Due all of these treatments, I will be absent from work and this is why your help is so important for me and my family today since I am their main support and I won’t be able to provide for them or my treatment during this difficult period and all the expenses that may occur. Hola, mi nombre es Rafael Malave y en Mayo del 2023 luego de una colonoscopia fui diagnosticado con cáncer de colon debido a un tumor que creció por alrededor de 10 años. Luego de mí diagnóstico, comencé un tratamiento con mi equipo médico, que consistió en mes y medio de radiación y quimioterapia, continuando con 8 sesiones de quimioterapia intravenosa.

Al final del tratamiento, el tumor disminuyó hasta el punto de no ser apreciado durante una prueba Resonancia Magnética o colonoscopia. Gracias al Senor, mi cuerpo tuvo una buena reacción al tratamiento y mis órganos no sufrieron mayores consecuencias. Mis doctores han decidido realizarme una cirugía para eliminar los rastros de las células cancerígenas en el área por lo que removerán parte de mi colon y ganglios linfáticos que pueden ser dañinos para mi salud en el futuro.

El periodo de recuperación es de alrededor de 2 meses y tendré un estoma de ostomía mientras esté sanando, lo que ameritará una segunda cirugía para ser removido y finalmente volver a la normalidad. Debido a estos tratamientos, estaré ausente en mi trabajo y por esto, su ayuda sería muy importante para mí y mi familia. Yo soy su soporte principal y durante este tiempo no seré capaz de proveer por ellos o mi tratamiento. Toda colaboración sin importar cuán pequeña será bien recibida y nos ayudaría inmensamente.
