On December 21st 2020, just days before Christmas, Jackie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer called Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3 Breast Cancer. It is Triple Negative so the only form of treatment that works is Chemo. They also found scattered cancer cells in one of her lymph nodes in her left arm pit. She is only 35 years old and she has been told by her team of doctors that this type of cancer is very aggressive and that it has a tendency to have a greater chance of spreading more rapidly to other parts of her body due to her young age. About 4% of all breast cancers in the US occurs in women under 40. Due to the large size of her tumor her doctors have decided she is not a candidate for a surgery first option and are wanting to start her on chemotherapy this week, and then proceed with a double mastectomy should they be able to shrink the tumor successfully with chemo. Her chemo will be aggressive about 16 rounds throughout the course of 8 months or better. Jackie and her fiancé Matthew had closed their business & re-located from Florida to Chicago in February 2020 to be closer to her family and to try and start up a new business, but one month later the Covid-19 Pandemic hit and they have been unable to work or start up their new business since. They have been relying on their savings to cover their cost of living since moving. Jackie does have state issued health insurance but it only covers so much and after meeting with a public aid oncologist she and her family felt in their hearts that that route was not the best choice for her and that in order for her to have the best chance at trying to beat this disease she was going to have to look outside of her network. Jackie & Matthew have decided to seek treatment outside of Illinois and were referred to an amazing oncologist in Indiana that has already successfully treated her cousin who battled & beat the same exact form of aggressive breast cancer in 2012. The oncologist & her team of doctors feel optimistic that she can beat this, even though her younger age makes the cancer more aggressive. Jackie & Matthew will be having to pay for her chemo treatments, follow up visits, labs, future possible radiation, transportation, integrative medicine treatments & her reconstructive surgery all out of pocket, plus still cover their general cost of living.
We graciously ask that you consider donating to help cover the cost of her treatment. We understand that the past year has been difficult for many and any donation big or small is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to make a financial donation, we ask that you please keep Jackie in your thoughts and prayers and share this page with your family and friends.
Jackie was devastated at first but we are amazed at how much her spirit and attitude has turned around. She is staying positive and is very eager to win this battle. Please cheer her on as she gets her chemo port put in on Tuesday 1/5/21 and her first chemo treatment will follow just a few short days after that.
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. God bless.
