Hi everyone!
This page is dedicated to helping Dr. Bruce Uy and his wife, Amy, with their living and hospital expenses while Bruce recovers from a traumatic injury.
On Thursday, September 25, 2014, Amy and Bruce traveled to Rancho Mirage for her oral surgery appointment. Bruce parked the car while Amy went ahead to check in. After a few minutes had passed, Bruce had not yet joined her inside so she went to check on him. Upon heading to the car, to her dismay, Amy found Bruce unconscious in the parking lot. Bruce was rushed to the ER of Eisenhower Medical Center then transferred to their ICU unit the same night. The initial findings are a fractured skull and multiple bleeding sites in the epidural, subdural, and subarachnoid along with frontal bleeding that has also increased by about 1 cm x 2 cm this morning. There is a large amount of plaque buildup in his blood vessels in the brain, which led to another stroke. We are still unsure of whether this was the cause or the effect of the fall. With suffering from a bilateral brain stem stroke eleven years ago, coupled with this traumatic injury to the brain, it has made his condition critical and guarded. We will be constantly updating this website as we discover more, but I believe we will be able to get a better prognosis after 72 hours.
As you all can imagine, injury of this type can easily accrue medical bills in a short amount of time. If you have family or friends who have gone through a devastating traumatic accident or injury, I'm sure you can relate to our current situation. If you or anyone you know have the means to donate to helping our cause, any amount is so greatly appreciated.
