This is a post I never thought we’d have to make. With his permission, I am sharing on his behalf that my husband, Damion, has cancer. What we previously thought was a benign tumor in his knee has since been diagnosed as osteosarcoma.
Damion underwent surgery mid January to remove the tumor. However, over the next 8 months, he will undergo intense chemotherapy treatment and a complete knee replacement to ensure all cancerous cells are removed from his body. We are extremely grateful to have an incredible team of doctors and surgeons who are taking great care of Damion and are confident in the success of this care plan.
We are heartbroken and scared. We are praying for this process to be one with minimal side effects, and 100% success, and we are pleading that you all do the same. Whatever you believe in - please pray for Damion and his doctors, keep them in your thoughts, send him well wishes and love. We are leaning on our support system now more than ever.
Many have already asked how they can help our family and we are humbled by the outpouring of generosity. We are extremely thankful for the family and friends that have helped in so many ways. From caring for our daughter so we can go to appointments and so I can continue to work, coming to our house and helping with chores and upkeep, and those who have selflessly helped us financially. We would be lost without you.
Damion has been the primary provider for our family. He has already been out of work for almost a month and will obviously continue to stay home throughout his treatment. While I will continue to work to support our day to day lives, we have a lot of medical bills in our near future.
I have started a GoFundMe specifically for Damion’s healthcare needs and medical bills. I have also created a Venmo account for those that would feel more comfortable donating that way. I have linked both in my instagram bio.
Please know that we expect absolutely nothing, and are humbled and thankful for everyone who finds it in their heart to help us. For those who can’t, please know that your well wishes and support mean more to us than you know and will carry us through this difficult time.
Damion is strong and otherwise, completely healthy. He is not currently experiencing any symptoms, which gives us hope that the cancer has not spread anywhere else in his body. This is a huge blessing to us as his current health will benefit him in the long journey ahead. He is eager to put this behind him and get back to doing the things he loves.
Thank you so much❤️
