Hi, my name is Joel Bruns and I am a teacher/librarian at Westfield High School. I also run a Coder Dojo club at school to work with students on technology projects. One of my students, Zach Watson (2021 graduate), who I have worked with since he was a freshman developed an app for the school over the course of his senior year. The app is designed to handle many of the functions of running the school from virtual passes, scheduling for our flexible time, event submission, service hour tracking, and much more. Zach has founded a company based on this project called SchoolCore, LLC.
Founding a startup company comes with many costs some of which are not evident until you deploy your software and have users interacting with it. Zach has big plans for the company. His software is already being used by WHS and he has plans to beta test and perfect it over the course of the year. After which he will be pitching the software platform to other school districts in Hamilton County and beyond.
We're asking for help to get Zach's company off the ground and running. As a teacher, nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching a student or former student have the courage to tackle problems in the world and work to find solutions. Zach embodies my message to students that I give every day over our intercom at school telling them to be kind, work hard, and make the world a better place. Zach works harder than probably anyone I know, he is absolutely one of the kindest people, but he needs your help to make the world a better place. Thanks for your support.
