Send Chuck Some Love for Medical Care
Chuck has been diagnosed with Vascular Ring Anomalies and needs to have surgery to fix his condition. He has only been able to hold down liquid at certain times because of his compressed esophagus. We noticed he was throwing up his food as we started to switch the puppies over to solid food. We took him to the vet and he was put on more worm medication. When the situation didn’t improve, he went back for more testing and that’s when his condition was discovered. He is quickly losing weight and we have reached out to vet hospitals for pricing and hope to move forward with his surgery as quickly as possible. Please help Chuck have a second chance at life. He is such a playful and sweet puppy.
Information from PetMD on Vascular Ring Anomalies in dogs: “Vascular ring anomalies occur when a congenital abnormality of the heart's blood vessels result in the esophagus being compressed at the level of the base of the heart. This, in turn, prevents solid food from being able to pass properly past the compression as well as the dilatation of the esophagus in front of the compressed area. This is termed megaesophagus. Because food is not moved properly through the esophagus, regurgitation occurs.”
