Laurie’s Fight
Donation protected
Laurie is a wife, a mother of 3 sons, she is a daughter, a sister, an auntie and a friend to many.
Laurie loves life, her family and her job.
Laurie lives and works in St.Cloud and she is employed by Centra Care Health System as a Resident Doctor Scheduler.
Laurie was just living life as usual when she suddenly began to feel very tired and Not herself. Laurie was literally fine one day and then suddenly she was not . Within a matter of a week her life was truned upside down. On March 7th, Laurie was diagnosed with "Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia".
It is an agressive cancer and the doctors are treating it in this same manner.
On March 11th, Laurie began intense (mostly)inpatient chemotherapy at the St. Cloud hospital. She has been in and out of the hospital since treatments started and this is how her treatment will continue.
Laurie’s bone marrow is already over 80% affected and she will need a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)in the very near future.
Laurie is currently undergoing treatment at the St.Cloud Hospital and the Coborns Cancer Center, however as soon as she is ready for her BMT, her care will be transferred to the University of MN. The BMT process and recovery can take up to 6 weeks in the hospital, as long as everything goes well. The BMT is going to bring more challenges to this already difficult journey with having Laurie’s care and treatment transferred to the U of M. For Joe, this will mean alot of travel back and forth to the cities and probable hotel expenses.
Laurie will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time and possibly indefinitly.
Joe will have many more days that he will miss from his job in order to be at Laurie’s side as much as possible during this journey.
We all know that life does not stand still when someone becomes ill, but there are still responsibilities to tend to,
house payments /household bills to pay, along with the hospital bills that can become crippling to a family.
Prior to Laurie’s diagnosis, their family was already dealing with ongoing medical issues for one of their sons that has unfortunately already depleated most of the families savings.
This account has been set up to help support Laurie and Joe financially during this difficult journey.
Please help if you can and most importantly please pray for Laurie . Please pray that she will be able to stay strong and that she will kick Cancer’s butt!
Thank you so very much and
God bless you all.
