Doneer en help de slachtoffers van de aardbeving in Myanmar

Hoi, ik ben Yin.

Ik ben geboren in Myanmar en woon nu in Amsterdam. Toen ik het nieuws hoorde over de verwoestende aardbeving op 28 maart 2025, wist ik dat ik iets moest doen!

Op 28 maart 2025 werd Myanmar getroffen door een aardbeving van 7.7 op de schaal van Richter. Talloze gebouwen stortten in. Meer dan 4.300 mensen zijn omgekomen, duizenden gewond, en honderdduizenden hebben geen dak meer boven hun hoofd. De economie is ontwricht: in het rampgebied zijn de meest basale voorzieningen afwezig.

Myanmar is niet alleen getroffen door natuurgeweld — het land bevindt zich al jaren in een diepe politieke crisis en burgeroorlog. De overheid biedt geen hulp. Maar de mensen in Myanmar helpen elkaar. Lokale reddingsteams en vrijwilligers zetten zich met gevaar voor eigen leven in om slachtoffers te helpen — vaak zonder bescherming, zonder medische spullen, zonder drinkwater.

Geboren in Myanmar en met mijn familie nog altijd daar, wil ik helpen waar ik kan.

In April and May 2025, I cooked delicious Burmese food at the Aprilfeesten (April Festival) and Rollende Keukens (Rolling Kitchens) to help raise awareness and funds for this GoFundMe campaign.

Who I'm Raising Funds For:

The donations will go to a dedicated local social volunteer in Myanmar, someone who was among the first responders after the devastating earthquake. Since then, they’ve continued working closely with affected communities and are now focusing on the long-term recovery process.

For security reasons, I haven’t mentioned their name publicly. The current regime in Myanmar is actively targeting independent fundraisers and volunteers, which could put them at risk. However, if you’ve donated and would like to know who the recipient is, please contact me directly, I’ll be happy to connect you privately.

How Your Donation Helps:

* Direct cash support for victims, allowing them to prioritize their own urgent needs

How We Transfer the Funds:

Due to the political situation in Myanmar, official money transfers can attract unwanted attention and potentially endanger the volunteer. To avoid this, we are taking extra precautions:

I regularly send money to my family in Myanmar for personal expenses. I will include your donation in a transfer to my sister’s account, which is considered routine and non-suspicious. From there, she will safely pass the funds on, either directly to the social volunteer or to the victims in need, in cash if necessary.
