I'm not really sure where to begin or how to write this. I never thought in a million years that this would happen to my family nor did I think I would have to do this but here we go...
In January, my mother had been experiencing constant headaches and eye pressure that did not seem to resolve. She became concerned and went to an urgent care where they told her that she might have "sinusitis" and was given antibiotics. The headaches and eye pressure persisted so she reached out to multiple specialists (ENT, Optometrist, Ophthalmologist, OBGYN) who were all unsure of the cause of the headaches and eye pressure. Her pain was gradually worsening so she decided to make an appointment with her Primary Care Doctor and a Neurologist and had an MRI of her brain. My family and I were certain that she was suffering from migraines or even cluster headaches and we thought the MRI would reveal that diagnoses.
3 and 1/2 weeks ago my mom gets a call from her primary care doctor that her MRI results came in and she needs to rush to the Emergency Room ASAP. After a couple of days in the hospital and multiple test, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer that spread to the Brain, Pancreas, Thoracic nodes, Adrenal glands, Bone/Soft tissue and Left/Right Femur.
She has finally begun radiation and oral chemotherapy which she might have to take indefinitely. My mother is the strongest women I know. I am who I am today because of her. My family needs her and without her, we are nothing. They say that God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers...and my mom...she can handle ANYTHING. My mom has a lot of things left in life to accomplish. My family and I will make sure that she lives to have her own amazing destination wedding, walk me down the aisle, watch Tyler and Rosanna graduate college and have grandchildren to spoil. She's a fighter, she's strong and she is so so so brave.
