Saving Lola

My darling Lola, 20 years old needs your help.

Lola needs funding for an assistance dog, and help with ongoing medical and hospital expenses. Lola lives in a small rural town in Queensland Australia, the local public hospital cannot cope with complexities of her illnesses. What Lola really needs is care in a private hospital with specialist care, if not I fear she will die.

This champion has worked for me since she was 14 years old. Throughout her teens she suffered many health issues, missing the final years of high school. She has endured kidney failure, and survived sepsis on numerous occasions. Whenever she thought she was healthy she would insist on working in our café.
Last year, 2019, she finally had a long awaited, life changing operation.

Unfortunately, in the last 4 months her health has taken a dive, she has been diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1, and her blood sugar levels are out of control.
She has since been admitted to hospital with Congestive Cardiac Failure and has now been told that she also has thyroid problems. She is currently awaiting results for a test to confirm is she is suffering from Fabry disease, which could explain some of her symptoms.

At this point her body is shutting down, on almost 20 medications to manage fluid retention pain, nerve damage, heart and thyroid, diabetes. She is starting to lose bodily functions and is unable to walk or perform other everyday things without assistance.

Lola needs an assistance dog to help her through day to day life, help her manage her health and provide love and companionship.
More importantly Lola needs funding to receive the hospital care she requires rather than the hospital care that the public systems seems to be able to offer, before it is too late.

"It's likely to be a rare progressive genetic disease my doctor said but so far has effected:

My sight
My kidneys
My balance and coordination
My heart
My bladder
My nervous system
My brain function
My thyroid
My immune system- type one diabetes diagnosis
My taste and feeling

My doctor is scared I'm going to die a premature death or am dying. It's horrible and to be told that it hurts so much. Never did I think I was going to be told that. She said we need to find answers before it's too late. And she was tearing up herself. The dog as well as being an assistance dog will provide some love whilst feeling scared. It's the most horrible feeling you are dying. All within 3 weeks has it gotten so bad. Sorry just upsetting me a fair bit."... Lola Riley.
