Dear friends and family,
I have been in awe, this past year in particular, by the amount of change that happens in life and the lives around us. To witness the cyles of each other in birth & growth, union & separation, death & grief is a true gift, even if mainly on the Internet.
During this season of change I am inspired more than ever to deepen my practice in bodywork and healing arts to be a stronger presence in my community as a massage therapist. This fall I started renting an office space as an independent practioner at 409 W State Street in Ithaca, NY as a launching pad for this vision.
As many of you know I have been studying Thai massage for over 10 years now and practicing massage professionally for almost 7 years. I have always dreamt of going to Thailand.
For the past several years I have been advancing my study in Thai massage with Shawn DeClue of Maha Yoga in Philadephia, PA. Shawn introduced me to Noam Tyroler, a teacher who specializes in Thai acupressure focused on treating Orthepedic disorders such as acute low back pain. I have been impressed by the effectiveness of these techniques when working with Noam in courses he taught at Maha Yoga. I plan on studying Thai acupressure and massage as my life's work .
The next step in my journey is to travel to Thailand this fall. In November Noam is teaching a two week advanced course called Thai Acupressure for Orthepedic disorders at the Sunshine School in Chiang Mai, where many of Shawn's teachers offer classes and workshops as well. I feel it is the right time to take my practice to the next level by attending this training , with the added benefit of being able to experience the Thai culture and see where the practice originated from.
It is my intention to offer this therapy in my massage practice in Ithaca, NY as well as use it as a "vehicle for travel." I have many friends and family around the world that I would be honored to share this work with. I am asking you for support on this journey. My goal amount is $5000. This will help me greatly with my expenses including coursework materials, tuition credit and travel costs.
I would be grateful for any donation amount - whether it is $5 or $100, it will be contributed to this learning adventure and healing chapter.
