Dad's Recuperation/Medical Fund

My name is Marissa, & here is my dad's story :
Back in November my dad was diagnosed with a tumor in the pituitary gland that was causing him to lose his peripheral vision among many other side effects. Upon meeting with specialists a surgery was scheduled for March 29, 2016. This was a very risky surgery but the hope was to remove the tumor & relive the optic nerve of the pressure so my dad could regain his full sight back.

The results were not what we expected, my dad’s vision was even worse than before. He ended up having a second surgery to see if there was anything left that they had missed hoping his vision would clear up afterwards but it didn’t. The doctors are unsure if his sight will ever go back to normal or get any better than it is now, he can only see in black & white & dark shadows. Even though he can now only see dark shadows, my dad has remained so positive throughout this whole journey, which  is why my brother & I want to help him build a retirement & medical expenses fund.

My dad has been a contracted painter for over 15 years, his job isn’t one that comes with a retirement plan or even a weekly pay check sometimes but it’s what he loved & what he did best. Now with his sight diminishing he will be out of work & have to rely on disability to cover all of his household bills & expenses.

We can’t speak for my dad with what he is going through but we can speak for what we see him going through. Having lived 56 years being able to see the world through clear eyes was something he never thought he would lose, it’s something no one thinks they’ll lose. We all take for granted the simple pleasures in life such as our eye sight & once it’s gone, it’s like learning how to live all over again. My dad is an independent person & will always try to do things himself first, but he now needs help even getting a glass of water.  Having to deal with losing your sight is enough of a burden to bear in itself, we don’t want him to have to bear the burden of not being able to keep up with his bills since he’s out of work.

We’ve set up this Go Fund Me page to help raise money for my dad so he doesn’t have to worry about anything else but staying positive. Any donation, big or small, will be very great appreciated! Please share my dad’s story, thank you.
