Supporting .diasfunK In Creating/Producing Music
Donation protected
Hello.
My name is Stevenson.
I'm a father, musician, and producer.
I also DJ under the alias .diasfunK. ( Knuf said. , backwards, in case you didn't know. )
Music has been part of my daily routine since I was about 10 years old. I was raised my my mother, my grandparents, and my uncleles who had their own funk/fusion band. They'd practice in the basement, and I was forbidden to mess around with their instruments.
Needless to say, I messed with them anyway.
I started on clarinet, then learned alto saxophone. Which lead to baritone saxophone. When lead to learning whatever instrument I was needed for said band. ( orchestra, pit orchestra, jazz band, concert band, marching band, wind ensemble, etc. )
The first band I ever formed was Trench 111, at age 19.
We weren't very good. LOL
But it was the solidification of me needing to live/breath/eat/sleep/work/play all for music.
Over the next 20 years I'd be in over 11 different bands spanning 5 different genres over 2 continents.
I began DJing when I was 32, even though I'd been doing for friends and house parties before that.
After moving to Chicago in 2009, things got harder for me work wise. After a long hiatus and several entry level jobs below my skill set, I began working towards doing music full time. Started working with different producers and started a sample pack company.
In 2014, I left my last retail job. I haven't looked back.
For the past 4 years I've supported myself through the arts. I struggled a long time to get here, and have had to sacrifice many things to attain it.
The past 6 - 8 months have come with many personal hardships and health issues, which were just plain out of my control, culminating in a need to run my business independently.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to meet said deadlines and goals, and have also been burdened by the shortcomings of past associates.
Rent, Business Insurance, Health Insurance, Studio Rentals, Lawyers, Artists Contracts, etc. were suddenly all on my dime.
This came with some reconstruction, reviewing, and scaling back.
In the midst of this, several health issues, which meant lots of out of pocket expenses.
But I've come down to the wire, and I've come up short. I'm about to lose my studio/workspace ( which is also where I live ), and we're still behind with several contract clients.
Your donation will enable me to continue my work, finish several projects on the brink of completion, as well as keep the lights on.
I've tried to make this happen for months, and I've made major leaps and bounds towards getting it done.
I ask for any help you can give, even if it's only sharing this campaign, so all of this hasn't been for nothing.
$5732.00? Yep. That's the exactly what is needed to keep everything afloat.
Well,....ok....it's actually $5731.64, but the app makes me round up.
Here's some of what you'd be saving....
