Community Defibrillator For Ansdell
As well as our Sunday services, during the week our buildings are used for Little Wellies Baby & Toddler Group, Messy Church (for families), Lighthouse (seniors luncheon club) and an Art Group. Also, many people enjoy walking through our grounds. Some stop to sit on the benches and enjoy the gardens.
With such a wide age range of people from the community using our buildings we believe it’s important that there is ready access to a defibrillator in case of emergency.
Recently the Well Church hosted an Emergency First Aid Training Course and we learnt the following:
• Approximately 30% of casualties that have a heart attack will end up in cardiac arrest, if the heart attack is not treated.
• Where a cardiac arrest has occurred, a casualty will lose 10% chance of survival for every minute that passes without an automated external defibrillator (AED).
• Defibrillation within the first 3-5 minutes of collapse can increase the survival rate of a casualty in cardiac arrest to rates as high as 50-70%.
There are already defibrillators in Ansdell at Ansdell County Primary School, Ansdell Institute, Star Hills Residential Home & Fylde Rugby Club.
But, how far are you from a defibrillator?
London Hearts , the leading defibrillator charity in the UK, aim to ensure that no one is more than 100m from a defibrillator.
We would like the community of Ansdell to have access to a defibrillator at the Well Church. The unit will be fixed to the outside wall of our building making the device accessible 24/7 to anyone who needs it, both the general public as well as users of our buildings.
With your donations we can make it happen.
