Ezra was involved in a hit and run accident over the weekend and he taken to the out of hours vet. Ezra’s only injury was a broken pelvis & we thought we would give him a chance by choosing for him to have a surgery. We made a decision not to euthanase him due to lack of funding & we believe we made the right decision.
We’re devastated as a family today because we lost our much loved cat Ezra that we’ve had as a kitten. Ezra turned 7 last month. Ezra was a quiet & timid cat. He was the one that would not go out & when he did, he stayed in the garden or the foot path near the driveway. I don’t why he went on the or what pushed
him on the road. Ezra was a beautiful, warm and loving cat.
Ezra had his surgery today with a specialist at the veterinary surgery in Halifax. The surgeon was very positive, he fixed his leg, it was a straightforward and successful surgery. We were all happy because everything went well. However, about an hour later, Ezra’s heart gave up. The surgeon did say his heart rate was down at some point during the surgery & it stopped at some point, they brought him back. After the surgery, he was fine. He was even starting to kick the leg that was operated on. The surgeon said he will like him to stay overnight at their out of hours because of his heart. He said he wants him to be monitored overnight/the next 24 hours as his heart could stop again on the way home if I took him & I wouldn’t know what to do. Hence, to collect him tomorrow.
I was on my way home near my house. They’ve left me 2 messages to call them. I called and they told me his heart crashed again, they managed to bring him back. Then his heart crashed again for the third time & this time, they couldn’t get him back.
We’re sad and devastated as a family but, we also know that we did everything humanly possible to keep him alive. That is our only consolation. We did not give up on him, neither did we abandoned him. I am grateful to God that we did not have make the decision to end his life based on lack of fund. We gave home a chance. He went by himself.
Thank you to everyone who has given advice, donated. You have all been very helpful. I do not wish this kind of loss or any loss on anyone for that matter. This is so painful
Unfortunately, not only do we have to deal with the loss, whoever ran him over on the rad has also left us with a £5000 vet bill to pay.
Please help us pay for Ezra’s bill. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
Thank yoi
