Sweet Ezra girl, the babiest fuzz bucket dream dog to ever grace my world.
Many of you do not know, but Ezra recently ingested grapes, which are wildly toxic to our four-legged earth angel canines. For several weeks now Ezra has been toted back and forth to animal health experts, staying several days and nights in cold unfamiliar hospitals, getting poked and stuck with needles, all the while shaking in confusion…
The grapes have caused Ezra to suffer an ulcer, internal bleeding, kidney damage, pancreatitis, and numerous trips to the Emergency Room and her regular Veterinarian. In my naivety, I had high hopes she would bounce back like she always does, but as our reality is setting in, I'm sitting here heartbroken and asking for your support.
Normally I would prefer to hide behind my pride, walking through this independently even though it's been incredibly painful, both emotionally and financially. However, I'm not too prideful or blind to see how much many of you love and care about this noble, fox-tailed creature just like I do. I would be both foolish and selfish to not include her greater support system.
The costs we have incurred to ensure her wellbeing has exceeded well over four thousand dollars. I have now been tasked with giving her subcutaneous IV fluids every other day, with more lab tests scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Her spirits are still high, and by looking at her you would assume she is her joyful, spirited self. On paper reads a different story. The kidney damage is irreversible and will need medical attention the rest of her life. Her lifespan will also now be determined by her kidney health.
If you are someone who is willing and able to help me afford the continued costs of care for my sweet Ezra girl, please consider donating to this cause. We are also accepting donations via Venmo at: @EzraCare.
The donations will go toward:
- The aforementioned $4,300 already spent on medical attention.
- Lab tests, which are $260 every three months.
- Medical grade prescription food, which is $50 a bag.
- IV fluids, which is $45 every six weeks.
- And her future caretaker expenses during times I am working and unavailable to be by her side.
I was told she might have 2 to 3 more years if the at-home IV fluid treatment is successful. The remainder of our financial goal is to cover her treatment for the next two years.
I am willing to talk to any of you about what’s going on and Ezra is always accepting visitors. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thanks so much for reading this. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing Ezra's story. She is sending all of you a great deal of puppy love <3
