Ezra's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Thank you all for reading this. It’s been a roller coaster of a week, which actually started Thursday afternoon.  Jordan took Ezra to his regular 4 month check-up on Thursday, November 7, 2019.  During the exam, they found a lump in his abdomen and informed her to get an x-ray immediately. Within an hour of the x-ray, the doctor called and informed Jordan there was a mass present. An ultrasound was set up first thing Friday morning.  Within a couple hours of the ultrasound, the doctor called and told Jordan and her husband Josh to pack their bags and head down to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego immediately.  The ultrasound showed a mass that was 13.7 cm x 7.7 x 8.3 (yes, you read that right), which equals 5.4” x 3” x 3”.  The mass was tucked into Ezra's side, squishing his liver, gall bladder and intestines, which is how it went unnoticed.  The ultrasound could not identify a right kidney (where the mass is).  The doctors say it appears to be a form of renal cancer, likely Wilms Tumor…which is rare and extremely rare in an infant.  Once the tumor is removed (Wednesday, November 13th) it will be biopsied where we will learn more.  Ezra will be in ICU for a couple of days and the hospital for a week.  Follow-on treatment may include anything from monitoring to chemotherapy and radiation.

Jordan and Josh are our family, friends and colleagues. Jordan is a teacher at Nicholas Valley Elementary School for Temecula Valley USD and while Josh completes his credential program, he is a guest teacher for Temecula Valley USD, Perris USD, and a Varsity Basketball coach at Murrieta Mesa High School. They have dedicated their lives to serving the next generation.  A parent's worst nightmare has become their reality. They would NEVER ask to have an account set up, but I know they would be appreciative of any consideration.  If all goes well, the family is looking at an upwards of $150,000 minimum. Insurance will take care of some of the costs, but has already confirmed it will not cover everything.  The last thing Josh and Jordan need during this trying time is to worry about medical costs. Please come alongside the family and help alleviate some of their financial burden. No amount is too small.

Most importantly, please keep Ezra, the Lepley's, the Garner's, and the Kennedy's in your prayers - especially during his surgery on Wednesday. An update will be sent out as soon as one is available.
