Ezra Kovsky’s Bar Mitzvah Project
Tax deductible
In the summer of 2022, I visited Yad Vashem. I was very inspired and knew I wanted to do my Bar Mitzvah project with them. I was assigned a twin by Yad Vashem, someone who did not have the opportunity to have a Bar Mitzvah because he was killed in the Holocaust. His name was Eliahu Nadel and I am having my Bar Mitzvah in his memory.
I also had the opportunity to speak with a local holocaust survivor and made a short film which incorporated a portion of her interview as well as footage from my great-grandmother’s Shoah Foundation interview.
I was interested to learn about the connection between the Holocaust and the formation of the State of Israel. After touring Yad Vashem, it was very apparent to me why the Jewish people need their own state.
Every year Yad Vashem welcomes 70,000 IDF soldiers to tour the museum to help them understand the moral weight of their service. This reinforces their need to defend the Jewish state and the continued existence of the Jewish people. I chose this program to support and would be honored if you would consider making a donation in celebration of my Bar Mitzvah.
Thank you.
