My name is Emily, I am 13 years old and a member of 1st Silver End Scout Group. I am fundraising for an exciting Essex Scouts international trip in 2027 that will take me to the USA and Canada. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure will see me exploring iconic cities such as New York City and Toronto, experiencing different cultures and ways of life. Alongside the city visits, I will take part in a week-long summer camp, hike through mountain landscapes, canoe along rivers, and finish the trip with an unforgettable visit to Canada’s Wonderland, enjoying the thrill of theme park rides.
To attend, I need to raise £3,500. I’ll be organising and taking part in a wide range of fundraising events and activities to work towards this goal, but any donations — big or small — would be hugely appreciated.
This journey will bring out the best in me by building my confidence, independence, and resilience. I will develop teamwork and leadership skills through shared challenges, learn to adapt in new environments, and gain a broader understanding of the world around me. The experience will encourage personal growth, boost my self-belief, and create memories and skills that will benefit me at school, in Scouts, and throughout my future.
This year, together with fellow Scouts I will also be helping at the Scout car show and the light trail, as well as arranging group fundraising events to support everyone taking part in the trip. By working together, we are learning the value of teamwork, responsibility, and community involvement. These efforts not only help fund the adventure but also play a key role in developing lifelong skills and a sense of achievement.
