Ezmin George - "Cancer Be Gone"

Ezmin was diagnosed with acute T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia on 8/14/2019. She has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and has received a number of additional treatments over the last 16 months. She also had a number of procedures, including undergoing neurosurgery to receive additional chemotherapy. She was initially able to get into remission, but she unfortunately relapsed and has been hospitalized for several stretches since June 2020 to receive multiple cycles of treatment. Unfortunately, the chemotherapy treatments resulted in toxicity that caused the devastating side effect of losing the ability to walk. She has also faced a number of other challenging complications from the treatments. Ezmin is still fighting, but she must be in complete remission so that she can work towards the goal of having a bone marrow transplant. To help towards this goal, her doctors would like to enroll her into a clinical trial at Baylor University Medical Center which will create a synthetic immune system that can attack her cancer cells. (For more information on this innovative work, please check out this TED Talk https://www.ted.com/talks/carl_june_a_living_drug_that_could_change_the_way_we_treat_cancer/transcript?language=en#t-80005)

Ezmin and her sister Nancy will need to travel to Houston, TX for a month so that she can receive this life saving treatment. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover her expenses for the trip or the treatment. We are establishing this gofundme account to support her while she relocates to Houston. Ezmin is a Critical Care Pulmonologist and has saved hundreds of lives as a physician, but her illness has prevented her from working since August 2019 and her medical expenses are rapidly mounting, especially with additional needs since losing the ability to walk.

Ezmin is an incredible inspiration to her family, friends, colleagues and even to those who don't know her.  She is living with cancer with such grace and tenacity.  She has been endlessly hopeful, positive, strong, courageous, and brave. In the midst of fighting for her life, she has still managed to appreciate each moment and has never stopped being an amazing mom to her two beautiful children. She remains connected to her family across virtual platforms during her long stretches in the hospital. She watched her son take his first steps, say his first words, get baptized and turn 2 years old.  She was able to teach her 5 year old daughter to read, helped with her virtual instruction over the last year, and made her unicorn birthday party dreams come true. As she lost her hair, she showed her usual positivity and embraced her new look with  a pizza and makeup party.  She takes long walks for several miles around the nurses station on her floor to stay fit and upbeat during hospitalizations. She always shows her gratitude for her nurses and doctors and has been known throw them surprise donut parties. Ezmin is a talented artist and has painted a number of beautiful pictures for her friends, families, nurses and doctors from her hospital bed. Each night, she holds a zoom call with her friends and does a  nightly "turn up" where she “raps" about beating cancer. She is lovingly known as Primrose, DJ EZ Primrose, and "THE" Remission Queen!

Ezmin has so much to offer to the world. We are all better for having known her, and her beautiful spirit will continue to bless countless others. So many people love her and we are all claiming her healing and walking in this fight with her. Please donate and support her in getting to Houston to finally beat this cancer!! #EzminStrong

"The journey and fight continue. I chose to be strong because I don’t have another choice. I chose to keep fighting because I want to live. I have two little ones at home that depend on me....I continue to fight and celebrate living."  ~Ezmin George, MD
