In partnership with the United Cajun Navy we are raising funds for the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department to replace all their personal protective equipment. This incredible organization is dedicated to protecting our community and providing essential firefighting services to Center Point TX and the surrounding communities.
As a result of the devastating July 4 floods, their station was completely flooded. Although, they saved all their fire trucks, the flood waters destroyed everything else. They are in desperate need of all new protective gear for structural and wildland fire fighting, as well as water and vertical rescue equipment.
Despite the flooding of their station, these volunteers have been on the front lines of this disaster since the start. Their swift water rescue team was dispatched around 3am on July 4 to the initial flood zone. There they rescued numerous people and a dog from the rising flood waters.
After the initial response, they returned to their home district getting ahead of the flood waters and initiating evacuation of river campgrounds and residences, resulting in no loss of life in their district. They quickly transitioned into search and rescue operations, locating and rescuing a survivor who was carried 30 miles from the initial flood zone. After 2 days of search and rescue operations, they moved into the recovery phase. This is a painstaking and emotionally difficult phase that these men and women continue to do so that the family of the missing can get closure.
While the firefighters were out taking care of the community, the flood waters rose over 7 feet inside their station, destroying everything still inside and scattering it as far as 30 miles down river.
Your support here will ensure the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department will have the personal protection equipment that they need to continue to protect the community they serve.
