Hi, I am a Kurdish trans and queer rights activist.
I have been seeking asylum in the UK for some years now and this long, uncertain quest for a safety has been incredibly isolating and difficult. Amidst this chaos, starting my medical transition as a transgender woman has been one of the most exhilarating and affirming experiences of my life. This journey of finding a sense of self has had such a transformational impact on my mental health by helping me find hope and joy in a system which is constantly trying to strip us off our basic rights and bodily autonomy. This process, however affirming, has also been difficult to access. Gender-affirming care in the UK through NHS has long waitlists (over a decade in some clinics) and private healthcare is costly. Given my asylum seeker status, I can not work or travel until I receive a refugee status. I have now run out of all my savings and hence I am now reaching out to my community for help. This fundraiser will help me access life-saving gender-affirming care and life essentials as listed below: - Hormonal replacement therapy
- Full body laser hair reduction
- Hair loss treatment
- Feminising cosmetic procedures such as fillers I am hoping to raise 4000GBP to cover these costs. Every contribution—no matter how small—makes a difference.
