On the evening of November 18th, Colby was involved in a horrific dirt bike accident while riding with his son. Thankfully, Axel is safe and recovering emotionally at home. Colby,however, suffered multiple severe injuries, including a broken fibula, broken tibia, and on the opposite leg, a broken kneecap, and a broken wrist along with extensive road rash. He has already undergone one surgery, with another still ahead.

Colby is the primary provider for his family—his fiancée, Varina, and their five children. Because of the injuries and his expected six-month recovery, the family is now struggling to make ends meet.

Update on Colby:

Colby has finally made it through his series of surgeries. During this process, doctors discovered a fracture in his left arm, adding another layer to what he’s already enduring. He has now been moved to a rehabilitation facility, where he’ll remain for weeks to months depending on how his recovery goes — but at this point, it’s looking much more like months.

This journey is far from over for their family.

The donations that have come in so far have been an incredible blessing. Because of everyone’s kindness, Varina was able to cover this month’s mortgage — something that lifted a huge weight off her shoulders during an already overwhelming time.

But with Colby still unable to work and their household depending on one exhausted mother caring for five children, the needs continue.
